Senior Real-Time VFX Artist

We seek a hands-on visual effects artist to create stunning, interactive visual effects for immersive experiences to join a global company in Lund.
This is a six-month, full-time consultant position starting ASAP. Possible to be extended.
Hybrid work, 3 days a week onsite at the office in Lund.

The role focuses on Unreal Engine 5, requiring strong technical expertise in Blueprints, Materials, Post-processing, and lighting. Previous experience working with visual effects in Unity is considered an asset but not essential. The ideal candidate should work independently and have a strong artistic ability to bring concepts to life in real-time environments.
You will join a close-knit team of game programmers, engineers, and 3D artists developing interactive experiences using the Company´s latest sensor and display technologies.
Their team produces interactive experiences for a wide range of environments such as 360-degree projection rooms, large-scale LEDs, and projection walls. Their experiences can be seen at trade shows, light trails, concerts, etc.
As a Senior Real-Time VFX Artist, you will be responsible for imagining new concepts. You will create, and evaluate prototypes, and develop production-quality experiences using game engines such as Unreal Engine Unity. The role will allow for creative independence, giving you the freedom to realize your ideas and find your approach to solving problems.
Key Responsibilities
- Creating engaging visual effects from concept to execution in Unreal Engine and Unity
- Collaborating effectively with producers, designers, and IP stakeholders to achieve a cohesive visual style
- Optimizing effects for real-time performance without compromising quality
- Exploring and implementing innovative tools and shaders to improve visual fidelity
- Contributing to discussions and brainstorming sessions to generate ideas for future experiences
Required skills
- 5+ years’ experience developing visual effects for real-time environments
- Proficient with Unreal Engine tools like Niagara, Materials, Post Process and Blueprints
- Skilled in recreating visual references in real-time game engines
- Strong eye for details and creating high-quality visual effects from scratch
- Excellent technical and creative communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and self-manage in fast-paced production
- Experience producing real-time effects in Unity
- Knowledge of real-time best practices, pipelines, and workflows
- Expertise in particle effects and node-based shaders
- Balances artistic vision with technical constraints in real-time environments
Good to have
- Experience with Houdini and converting simulations to Unreal Assets
- Previous experience working with Unreal Engine’s Display system
